On the 3 October 2024 the ICO fined the Police Service of Northern Ireland £750,000 for failing to implement appropriate security measures causing a
significant data breach that happened in August 2023 when the service in advertently published a spreadsheet
to the internet containing information about all 9,483 of its officers and staff including surnames, initials, ranks, and roles.
